When Jonathan Was Almost Winning The War Buhari Said They Are killing The Northerners’-Sunday Oibe

In a recent interview, Elder Sunday Oibe, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the North-West Zone and General Secretary for the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, expressed cautious optimism regarding the challenges faced by the nation, as reported by The Sun.

Elder Oibe acknowledged two commendable initiatives by Tinubu, highlighting his advocacy for subsidy removal and local government autonomy. He also noted ongoing concerns, stating that despite apparent reductions, issues of kidnapping and banditry had resurfaced in recent weeks.

Talking on past events, he mentioned a previous remark by President Buhari regarding northern killings during Jonathan’s administration, which, according to him, had impacted military operations against insurgents.

He stated, “The two issues that I can doff my hat for Tinubu are the issues of subsidy removal and the local government autonomy that he is advocating.

But the other thing that I want to encourage him is that the battle has not been won yet, but we can see the seemingly reduction in the issue of kidnapping and banditry.

“But in the last couple of weeks, the thing has reared its ugly head again. When Jonathan was almost winning the war Buhari said they are killing the Northerners, and that statement weakened the military to go after them.”

Elder Oibe stated that Tinubu, having taken an oath to defend and protect the country, should prioritize national security.

He urged Tinubu to address the issue of banditry decisively, asserting that the root causes, including the identified sponsors, should be tackled head-on. He stated the importance of cutting off these sponsors, stating that only then could Nigeria achieve lasting peace…..Discover More
