We Cannot Continue Living Like This, Peter Obi Calls For Declaration Of War On Massive Insecurity

Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has urged urgent and decisive action against the escalating insecurity and economic crisis in Nigeria.

Obi emphasized the need to “declare war on this massive insecurity,” following recent incidents of abductions and killings across the country, as reported by Punch on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

In a statement on X.com, Obi expressed his concern over the rising cases of kidnappings, including the abduction of medical students in Benue and the kidnapping of a state commissioner and his wife in Edo State.

He highlighted that within just 24 hours, about 20 dental students from Maiduguri and Jos were abducted in Benue State, while an Anambra State Commissioner and his wife were kidnapped in Edo State.

The tragic events, according to Obi, are only a few among many happening nationwide.

Obi stressed the necessity for bold action and a united front to tackle the country’s challenges. We cannot continue living like this,” he stated, calling for a collective resolve to address the insecurity that threatens society.

He urged Nigerians to work tirelessly to build a safer, more prosperous, and just society for all.
