A report from Vanguard states that the 21st Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC) warned so-called “fifth columnists” against any efforts to remove political representatives from the Niger Delta.
They emphasized that the region’s oil resources have been vital in building and sustaining Nigeria.
They pointed out that while gold mining in other regions often leads to violence and displacement of local communities, the oil wealth of the Niger Delta is distributed among various states and local governments, without adequate recognition or benefits for the people of the region.
This statement was made by the group’s Coordinator, Izon Ebi, in response to the trending hashtag #AkpabiomustGo.
In the Group’s words, they said, “This is sounding a warning to those fifth columnists that the Niger Delta people will resist any plot to remove our representatives from office if our mortgaged oil resources is the foundation and even reason why we have a country called Nigeria.
