Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has shown his gratitude to the youths and parents in the state for their role in maintaining peaceful demonstrations against hunger and hardship in Nigeria.
According to a report by Punch, the acknowledgment came in a statement released on Saturday by Dotun Oyelade, the state’s Commissioner for Information.
The peaceful protests began on Thursday, August 1st.
In the statement, it was highlighted that Governor Makinde was among the first leaders in Nigeria to support the constitutional right to protest, specifically endorsing the #EndHungerProtest.
He emphasized the importance of keeping the protests peaceful to achieve meaningful results.
He praised the people, especially the youths, for maintaining peace and expressed hope that the Federal Government would respond by improving living conditions for everyone.
