August 1 Protest: Monitor Your Children’s Movement, APC Warns Parents As Nationwide Protest Looms

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged parents to monitor their children’s movements to prevent them from being recruited for violence ahead of the planned nationwide protest from August 1 to 10.

According to Punch newspaper, the warning comes after the Inspector General of Police threatened to make arrests if the protest turns violent.

The protest, sparked by the soaring cost of living and economic hardship, has generated tension and mixed reactions from Nigerians.

The APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, appealed to protesters to shelve their plans, assuring that the Federal Government is addressing economic challenges.

Basiru noted that some protest issues are political or constitutional, requiring amendment, which is ongoing at the National Assembly. He urged parents to ensure their children are not used to cause chaos.

“The meeting urged parents and well-meaning Nigerians to monitor the movement of their children/wards so that they will not be used in causing chaos in the country.”
