The Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Hon. Philip Agbese, has cautioned Senator Ali Ndume to embrace the principles of teamwork and collaboration.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Agbese, when asked for his reaction to Ndume’s removal as Majority Whip of the Senate, stated that it was a standard parliamentary practice worldwide.He urged Ndume to put Nigeria first, rather than seeking to divide and distract the government.

Agbese said, “Some persons don’t understand that the parliament and the executive are two parallel lines of necessity. Senator Ndume should take note of this and embrace the principles of teamwork and collaboration, rather than seeking to divide and distract the government from its laudable reforms.

“He should put Nigeria first, rather than seeking to divide and distract the government.

“Let us work together to address the challenges facing our country. We will not be distracted by individual interests or personal agendas.”

Zulum, Shehu, CAN Oppose Planned Hunger Protest

Borno State governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, alongside the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi and the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev Dr John Bogna Bakeni have appealed to the citizens of Borno and the country at large to shelve the planned hardship protest and embrace dialogue.

At a stakeholders meeting convened by Governor Zulum at the Government House Maiduguri, the governor said he is appealing not only to the people of Borno State but also to Nigerians to shun any protest that would cause them hardship.

LEADERSHIP reports that some Nigerians, under various bodies, have planned a nationwide protest between August 1st and 10th against the rising cost of living and the economic hardship facing the country at the moment.

CBN sells forex to BDCs at N1450/$

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday sold dollars to eligible Bureau De Change operators at the rate of N1450/dollars.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the acting director of the Trade and Exchange Department at the CBN, AA Mahdi, on Thursday.

This comes days after the apex bank sold $123m to authorised dealers.

The Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria claimed that they were excluded in that tranche of forex sales.

Mutfwang Inaugurates Committee For Women Empowerment

Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang has inaugurated a consultative committee to facilitate the domestication of the Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy in the state.
