Elder statesman Dr. Chike Obidigbo has cautioned Igbo politicians against exacerbating the plight of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Speaking from Enugu, Obidigbo criticized the approach of certain politicians from the South-East, accusing them of self-serving actions and ignorance in their advocacy for Kanu’s release.
According to Daily Post, Obidigbo emphasized the need for diplomatic handling of Kanu’s incarceration, highlighting the complexities surrounding his case, particularly Britain’s silence on his situation.
He suggested that political elites should pursue a quieter, more strategic approach to secure Kanu’s release without politicizing the matter further.
Regarding Kanu’s legal status and the involvement of international actors, Obidigbo pointed out the alleged role of the British government in Kanu’s arrest and rendition from Kenya to Nigeria.
He accused Britain of economic interests in Nigeria and criticized its perceived double standards in handling Kanu’s case compared to historical precedents.
