Buhari Was Very Nepotistic Developing Only The Fulani And The Hausa Areas – Edwin Clark

In an interview, Pa Edwin Clark, elder statesman and leader of the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), discussed his legal actions taken during Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency, as reported by THE SUN.

Clark remarked that Buhari had committed numerous offenses, including breaching the Constitution and exhibiting nepotism by favoring the Fulani and Hausa regions over the south

He said, “We discovered that during the presidency of Muhammadu Buhari, he committed a lot of offences. He breached the Constitution and he didn’t care. He was very nepotistic, developing only the Fulani and the Hausa areas at the expense of the south. And the federal character, which is entrenched in the constitution of Nigeria, he did not obey it. So we decided to go to court.

He noted that Buhari did not adhere to the federal character principle entrenched in the Nigerian Constitution. As a result, Clark decided to pursue legal action, becoming the first plaintiff in the case. Ayo Adebanjo, head of Afenifere, and Fasoranti, who represented Afenifere, were among the plaintiffs, along with John Nwodo, then President of Ohaneze, Dan Suleiman from the North, and others.

The case is ongoing in court, addressing issues of injustice, constitutional protection, and preventing oppression beyond constitutional bounds. Clark mentioned that the federal government raised preliminary objections questioning their standing, but the judge ruled against these objections, allowing the case to continue.

“So that case is in court. They raised preliminary objections that we have no locus standing. The judge ruled against them, against the federal government. So that case is in court, fighting injustice, protecting the constitution of Nigeria and preventing oppression and other things outside the constitution. So that is why we are there,” he said.
