No Administration Since 1999, Has Done Anything To Favour The Igbos In Nigeria’- Chuks Muoma

Various major ethnic nationalities in Nigeria assessed the 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, expressing disappointment and a sense of marginalization.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, alongside other Igbo groups such as Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), Igbo Lawyers Association (ILA), and Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), voiced strong dissatisfaction with the situation of the Igbo people in Nigeria since 1999, as reported by The Sun.

He highlighted pervasive marginalization across socioeconomic development, industrialization, and the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure.

Muoma advocated for restructuring the country to enable regions to control their resources and contribute to national governance through the federal purse.

He also expressed concern over the alleged harassment, intimidation, and detention of Igbo individuals by authorities. According to him, figures like Nnamdi Kanu and numerous young Igbo are reportedly languishing in detention because they are Igbo.

In his words: “In my opinion, no administration since 1999, has done anything to favour the Igbos in Nigeria. We are being marginalized in every sphere of Nigerian life, be it in socioeconomic development, industrialization, positioning and rehabilitation of critical capital infrastructure.

“Our people are hounded, harassed and intimidated by the powers that. Nnamdi Kanu, and many uncounted young Igbos are languishing in detention for reasons that they are Igbo. We have nothing to celebrate for now…..Discover More
