Tinubu: I Cringed When I Saw The Video, All I Saw Was An Old Man Falling—Dele Farotimi

Political activist Dele Farotimi has shared his candid thoughts on the recent incident involving President Bola Tinubu’s fall from a ceremonial vehicle at Eagles Square. In a post on his X page, Farotimi revealed that watching the viral footage of the incident left him with a mix of emotions.

Initially, he thought it was just an elderly man tripping, and it wasn’t until later that he realized it was the President. Farotimi confessed that he felt a shudder run down his spine as he watched the footage, and he couldn’t help but feel a sense of discomfort.

While some Nigerians have been making light of the situation, Farotimi personally didn’t find it amusing. He, however, acknowledged that everyone has their own way of reacting to situations, and he doesn’t hold it against those who found humor in it.

The incident occurred during the commemoration of Nigeria’s 25th democracy anniversary, an event that should have been a celebration of the country’s progress. Instead, Farotimi was left feeling queasy as he watched the President stumble and fall.

Farotimi expressed his admiration for the elderly and his desire to live a long life, just like President Tinubu. He grew up with the elderly and has a deep respect for age and wisdom. In his words, ‘All I saw was an elderly man falling, and it didn’t sit well with me. I don’t begrudge those who found it amusing, but I simply didn’t find it funny.’

Farotimi’s comments have sparked a debate on social media, with some agreeing with his stance while others think he’s being too sensitive. Regardless, the incident has brought attention to the need for greater care and support for the elderly in our society….Discover More
