If Atiku And Obi Had Become President, They Would’ve Been Confronting Same Difficulties-Dr. Showunmi

Dr. Segun Showunmi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has offered a nuanced view on the challenges facing the current administration.

His comments, made during an interactive session with Seun Okinbaloye and quoted on the official account of Mic On The Podcast, suggest that the difficulties confronting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government are not unique to his leadership but are inherent to Nigeria’s complex socio-economic situation.

Showunmi’s remarks centered on a hypothetical scenario involving two of Nigeria’s most prominent opposition figures from the last election: Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra state, and Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria. Both men ran unsuccessful presidential campaigns against Tinubu in the hotly contested 2023 election.

If Atiku and Peter Obi had become President, they would have been confronting the same difficulties,” Showunmi stated, challenging the notion that a change in leadership alone would have dramatically altered Nigeria’s current trajectory.

This bold assertion comes at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardships and questioning the effectiveness of the current administration’s policies.

However, Showunmi was careful to acknowledge that leadership style and approach do matter. He noted, “They may come in with different styles and approaches but they will still have their own tilting challenges.

This statement recognizes the potential for varied strategies in tackling Nigeria’s problems while also emphasizing the persistence of underlying issues regardless of who holds the presidency…..Viêw_More
