Any Governor Who Says He Has Not Received 20 Trucks Of Rice From FG Is Not Being Fair–Abubakar Momoh

The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Abubakar Momoh, has accused Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki of rebagging rice provided by the Federal Government and distributing it under his own name.

Momoh alleged that Governor Obaseki deflected criticism of bad governance onto the Federal Government while addressing protesters, ignoring the shared distribution of resources among federal, state, and local governments.

He emphasized that many state governors misuse federal relief efforts for personal political gain instead of genuinely addressing their state’s issues.

In an interview with Channels TV, Momoh highlighted the distribution of 20 trucks of rice to each state by the Federal Government. He pointed to social media videos showing people breaking into warehouses and finding the rebagged rice in Edo State.

Momoh accused Governor Obaseki of rebagging the rice and distributing it under his own name, similar to actions taken by other state governors.

Momoh criticized Obaseki for suggesting that poor governance is solely a federal issue. He argued that this narrative ignores the shared responsibility for resource distribution among the three tiers of government.

Momoh expected the governor to address local issues directly, such as building roads and solving erosion problems, rather than misusing federal relief for political purposes.

The minister’s allegations draw attention to the misuse of federal relief efforts by some state governors. He suggested that the rebagging of rice by Governor Obaseki during the COVID-19 pandemic is being repeated with the current relief efforts.

He emphasized the need for governors to genuinely address the problems within their states rather than shifting blame and misusing federal resources for personal gain.

Hear him: ”For any governor to say that he has not received the 20 trucks of rice from the Federal Government is not being fair.

In the case of Edo State, you can see the video clips from social media of how people broke into warehouses and brought out these rice bag. The Edo State governor, Obaseki got his own bags of rice like other states and he rebagged it in his name.

And I can say clearly that there are some state governors who are also doing this same thing. This is the same governor of Edo State who while addressing protesters said he will take their message to the Federal Government….Viêw_More
