Nigeria is currently grappling with a severe hunger and inflation crisis, prompting widespread protests across the nation. In this context, President Ahmed Tinubu has addressed the nation, emphasising the urgent need for unity and cautioning against those who seek to exploit the situation for political gain.
President Tinubu declared, “I will not stand idly by and allow a few with political agenda to tear this nation apart.” His statement underscores his commitment to maintaining national stability and addressing the genuine grievances of the Nigerian people, while also highlighting the potential dangers of politically motivated unrest.
In his address, President Tinubu called for an immediate suspension of the protests to pave the way for dialogue. “Under the circumstances, I enjoin protesters and the organisers to suspend any further protests and create room for dialogue, which I have always assented to at the slightest opportunity.

President Tinubu also issued a stern warning to those who are inciting division and threatening national security. “To those who have taken undue advantage of this situation to threaten any section of this country, be warned: the law will catch up with you.
There is no place for ethnic bigotry or such threats in the Nigeria we seek to build.” This statement emphasises the administration’s zero tolerance for actions that undermine national unity and peace.
Addressing the broader vision for Nigeria, President Tinubu stressed the importance of respecting constitutional rights and ensuring the protection of all citizens. “Our democracy progresses when the constitutional rights of every Nigerian are respected and protected.
