Deeply Disturbing, I’ve Read Genocidal Threats Against Igbos Calling For Their Relocation – Peter Obi

The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has condemned the tweet calling for the relocation of Igbos from Lagos.

Obi said that such statements is disturbing and is against the constitution of Nigeria.

Recently, a tweet had surfaced on a popular X handle calling on Southwest stakeholders to prepare for a massive protest of #IgboMustGo on August 20 to 30. The tweet said that Igbos have one month to relocate their businesses from all Southwest states.

While reacting to the tweet, Peter Obi said that every Nigerian has the right to live and work in any part of the country, and called on the people in authority to speak up against the statement.

Speaking further, the former Anambra State governor called on the security agencies to go after the people behind the statement so that it would be a deterrent to other people who may want to consider such actions in the future.

He said, “Similarly, deeply disturbing, I have read genocidal threats on X against the Igbo tribe, calling for their relocation. Let me pointedly warn that such rhetoric threatens our unity and is fundamentally opposed to our Constitution, which guarantees every Nigerian the right to live and work freely anywhere in the country.

Those in authority must show leadership and urgently speak out against such divisive rhetoric. Immediate action should be taken to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those behind this heinous agenda, serving as a deterrent to others who might consider pursuing similar paths that threaten our national security and unity….Viêw_More
