Your Statement Was Well Noted, But Apology Not Needed -Reactions As Fayose Refuses To Apologize

Public Administrator and former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose recently caused a stir on social media after his refusal to apologize for his comments. His statements which came at a time when there has been pressures on him from all spheres of the society to apologize to the Northern Elders for his statements has however stirred mixed reactions from his supporters and the general public.

In a recent social media post which has gone viral on all social media platforms and had caught the attention of the general public, the former governor of Ekiti state, Peter Ayodele Fayose made it clear that he has no need to apologize for his comments regarding the North.

It can be recalled that the former governor stated that the poor man who has many wives and numerous children, citing the Northern part of the country as a case study, is responsible for the economic decline in the country. In his statements, he made it clear that his comments were not targeted towards anyone, religion or race, but rather from an experience he had from his visit to a state in the North.

In his words: “No Apologies, My Comment Not Targeted At Anyone or Any Region….what I said was very clear….I said I visited a state in the north, I didn’t mention the state…Some people’s are saying I should apologize, and I want to state that I have no apology….”

The statement from the former governor and his refusal to apologize has however stirred mixed reactions from the general public. While some agreed with him that his assertions truly mirrored the current situation of the country, others had different opinions and believe his statements lack credibility, hence his refusal to apologize is not needed.

Balatic agreed with him as he wrote, “Let’s forget emotions sef! You raised an important point….”

Distinguished KPMG was not impressed as he commented, “You have stayed in the south for the best part of your life, but after a few days you visited the north…..you blamed hunger on the north.”

Theodore Basil decided to take it personal as he furiously wrote, “What can government do about your own family that is up to 30…..”
