Let Me Make This Clear Peter Obi Don’t Speak For Igbo, Let Him Avoid Inciting Youth Against FG—Umahi

In a recent statement, Minister of Works David Umahi has criticized Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, as reported by DAILY POST.

Umahi stated that Obi does not represent the Igbos and urged him to stop encouraging South-East youth to protest against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Umahi made these statements at the Ebonyi State Youth and Stakeholders Summit, held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki.

He clarified that Obi does not speak for the Igbos, stating that the official representatives are the governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo, and traditional rulers.

Umahi warned that any attempt to use Obi’s comments against the Igbos would be counterproductive.

He advised Obi to reconsider his stance to avoid inciting unrest among uninformed youths and endangering national peace.

Umahi highlighted that protests harm the economy and recalled that the EndSARS protest did not lead to constructive outcomes.

He stressed that constructive dialogue is more effective for addressing grievances.

Let me make this clear: His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, does not speak for Ndigbo. Our governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo, and our traditional rulers are our leaders; they speak for us. Let the enemies of Ndigbo hear this loud and clear: our governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo are the mouthpieces of Ndigbo.”

“Let no one take the comments of one individual and use them to malign us. We are a very peaceful people. We will continue to support Mr. President. My advice to our brother is to reconsider his stance to avoid inciting some uninformed youths against the rule of law and endangering the peace of the nation.“

“Whenever there is a protest, the economy of that nation suffers. The EndSARS protest did not yield anything constructive; instead, people gathered to engage with the government, and the issues raised were addressed,” he said….Viêw_ More
