If Anybody Has The Right To Protest, I Also Have The Right To Resist Protest – Asari-Dokubo

Mujahid Asari-Dokubo warned those planning a nationwide protest against hardship not to extend it to the Niger Delta. He spoke on Tuesday in Port Harcourt during the Niger Delta Sensitisation Conference for Ethnic Nationalities, Youths, and Women, according to a report published by Vanguard.

Asari-Dokubo argued that the protest organizers’ agenda does not address the problems of the Niger Delta people. He emphasized that any attempt to bring the protest to the region would be met with resistance, accusing the organizers of being primarily interested in the region’s resources and labeling them as anarchists.

He declared that he and his supporters would not participate in any protest. Asari-Dokubo believes that while others have the right to protest, he also has the right to resist it. He expressed his opposition to protests, noting that similar protests occurred during the tenure of a previous Niger Delta leader and are now being planned again.

“If anybody has the right to protest, I also have the right to resist protest. Where your right stops, that is where my right begins,” Asari-Dokubo affirmed.

Asari-Dokubo questioned whether the protest organizers included the needs of the Niger Delta in their demands. He stated that the region’s needs are not considered important to them and accused them of wanting to share the Niger Delta’s resources. He warned that any protest brought near him would be resisted, citing past instances where protestors faced consequences for their actions.

He urged people not to be deceived by grand statements and questioned what the protest organizers had done to benefit their society and environment. Asari-Dokubo pointed out the longstanding lack of hospitals in areas like Buguma and Abonema, stating that this issue predates the current administration. He expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu, asserting that the absence of hospitals since the 90s should not be a reason to remove Tinubu from power….Viêw_More
