The Ondo State Police Command has begun an investigation into the shocking death of Olakunbi Adene, a 54-year-old woman who was found dead in her Akure residence on Sunday. Her lifeless body was discovered on her bed in a pool of blood, indicating a brutal murder.
Adene, a mother of two, had celebrated her 54th birthday just days before her untimely death. Neighbors described her as healthy and hearty, with no signs of illness before the incident. Her husband, Dele Adene, expressed shock and disappointment at the news, criticizing the police for not making any arrests yet.
As reported by The Punch News, Mr. Adene said, “I was told that my wife’s corpse was found on her bed in a pool of blood, which showed she was hacked to death. I cannot believe that no arrests have been made up until the moment of talking to you. I feel suspects should have been arrested. Her phone should be tracked, and I don’t know how dwellers in the building did not know such a thing happened in a house with four flats.”
The police have confirmed the incident and commenced an investigation. “I am aware of the incident, and an investigation is currently ongoing,” said SP Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer.
