In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today,” Segun Sowunmi, a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), lambasted President Tinubu for inaction in addressing the crisis in Rivers State, allegedly caused by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Sowunmi expressed dismay that leaders have excused firmness and allowed Wike’s behavior to continue unchecked. He cited the example of Atiku Abubakar, who, in 2002, ensured that former Governor Mbadinuju faced consequences for closing schools in Anambra State.
Sowunmi argued that a true leader must demonstrate patriotism and set standards for acceptable behavior, stating, “A leader has to carry a certain level of patriotism, and that patriotism is the scale that tells you this type of behavior will not go here, it will not be accepted here.”
“The things they’ve even caused. The crisis they’ve caused by themselves. The firmness they could have put on the table, they have excused. I will give you one, Rivers. What kind of National leader would tolerate the kind of nonsense that Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister is doing in Rivers, who would tolerate that?”
“I can tell you why Atiku will never tolerate it. In 2002 or thereabout, Mbadinuju was Governor under PDP and schools were closed.
He came back livid and ensured that Mbadinuju never get anything close to government again why? Because a leader has to carry a certain level of patriotism and that patriotism is the scale that tells you this type of behavior will not go here, it will not be accepted here” He said….Viêw_ More
