The Minister of State for Environment, Ishaq Salako, recently assured Nigerians that the economy is on a path to full recovery thanks to President Bola Tinubu’s radical economic reforms. Speaking at the inauguration of new National Working Committee members for the youth league of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, Salako highlighted the positive impact of Tinubu’s policies, as reported by Punch.
Salako’s comments came in response to calls for APC youths to boycott a nationwide protest planned from August 1 to 15. The protest, driven by rising living costs and economic hardship, has sparked mixed reactions among Nigerians.
While several groups argue that the protest is a necessary response to economic challenges, Salako sees it as an attempt by unscrupulous politicians to destabilize the government. He urged young people not to be swayed by those looking to exploit the current situation for political gain.
Salako compared the country’s economic situation to a long-standing illness that required radical intervention. He emphasized that Tinubu’s policies, much like rigorous medical treatment, would take time to show positive results. He also stressed the importance of understanding the necessity of these tough measures for long-term recovery.
Salako called on APC youth league members to inform their communities about the president’s efforts. He underscored the severe economic conditions that existed before Tinubu’s tenure and credited the president’s decisive actions for preventing further decline. According to Salako, without Tinubu’s intervention, Nigeria’s situation could have worsened significantly.
“Before he assumed office, things were extremely bad. That was why I used the example of a cancer that is at a terminal stage. If Tinubu had not done what he did, Nigeria would have been on its way to the mortuary by now. But God forbid it,” Salako said…..Viêw_ More
