Residents Should Give Police Information On Group Trying To Violate Protest Not To Attack Them -CP

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, urged residents of the state to refrain from attacking protesters. He emphasized this during a town hall meeting with traditional rulers and community leaders in Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, and Lagos Island local government areas on Saturday.

The meeting addressed concerns about a planned nationwide protest by some Nigerians due to the hardships in the country starting from August 1st.

Fayoade stressed that residents should instead provide timely information to the police regarding any group intending to engage in a violent protest, rather than taking matters into their own hands. He asserted that peaceful protests are a legitimate right as long as they do not violate the rights of others.

Fayoade also cautioned any group considering a violent protest to reconsider their actions, as they would face intervention from the police and other security agencies to prevent a recurrence of the #EndSARS protests.
