Where Do You Want People To Get That? -Lecturer Reveals Amount Of Money One Needs To Eat For A Day

Dr. Idowu Johnson, a lecturer at the University of Ibadan’s Department of Political Science, has expressed concerns about the current economic hardship and food scarcity in Nigeria, warning of potential political instability if the situation persists.

“To eat in Nigeria at a time, one needs an average of one thousand naira, that is three thousand naira per day for one person. Where do you want people to get that?” Johnson said in an interview with the Daily Post on July 23, 2024.

According to a report by Daily Post, he emphasized that the basic necessities of life, such as food, clothing, and shelter, are becoming increasingly unaffordable, leading to desperation among citizens. “If this continues, there will be chaos, and chaos can lead to political instability,” Johnson warned, citing the recent unrest in Kenya as a cautionary tale for Nigeria.

To address the crisis, Johnson advocated for a restructuring of the country’s political system and urged the government to focus on providing essential services and social amenities to citizens.
