Despite several appeals by the presidency, the nationwide protests, set to take place in August have been gaining momentum especially on social media with the hashtag #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria over the hardship going on in the country under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration
Amid that, popular human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana, while on Channels, spoke at length as he advised the government not to issue threats to protesters but rather, identify their leaders and engage in dialogue to address the issues plaguing the country. Femi Falso also talked about the fact that the desperation of the government has a way of popularizing such protests as well as leaders of some funny organizations.
In the detailed video, Femi Falana, in his words, said
“Those who are planning the protests engage with them productively, but threats will not work. Infact, on some occasions, the desperation of the government also has a way of popularizing such protests and when you are also getting some leaders of some funny organizations coming out, they are disassociating themselves, they didn’t plan the protest with them.
“Last year, the Ohanaeze came out to say the Igbo people should not join the protest. The Yoruba people came out, Afenifere, a faction of the group, saying no Yoruba son should come out and join the protest, but that will not work as no one listens to such warnings….Viêw_More
