If He, The President’s Accessible, We Would Have Told Him This In A Closed Door, Not On TV – Ali Ndume

According to Punch Newspaper, Former Senate Chief Whip Ali Ndume has firmly stated that he did not fabricate claims about President Bola Tinubu being inaccessible to lawmakers and party chieftains. Speaking on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” on Monday, Ndume addressed his recent dismissal from the position. Ndume, who was replaced by Tahir Monguno, the Senator representing Borno North, was removed last Wednesday following a directive from the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.

The directive for Ndume’s removal came in a letter from the APC National Chairman, Umar Ganduje, and National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola. The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, put the request to a voice vote, which was unanimously affirmed by all the APC senators. This rapid replacement indicated a consolidated agreement within the party’s leadership regarding the decision.

During his interview, Ndume emphasized the efforts he made to communicate with President Tinubu. He revealed that his attempts included multiple written requests for meetings that went unanswered. Ndume noted that his frustration with the lack of access to the President was a significant factor in his ousting. He expressed that these discussions could have been held privately with the President rather than being aired publicly.

Ndume’s comments shed light on the internal dynamics and communication challenges within the ruling party. His assertions highlight the difficulties faced by lawmakers in reaching the President to discuss pertinent issues. The Senator’s statements underscore the need for better accessibility and communication channels between the President and members of the Senate.

The replacement of Ndume with Monguno appears to reflect broader strategic moves within the APC. The party’s leadership is aiming to address internal concerns and streamline communication between its members and the executive branch. The situation underscores the ongoing political maneuvers and the critical nature of effective communication within the party’s hierarchy.

He said, “I can tell you that one of the major issues I had that led to my removal as the Chief Whip (of the Senate) was my complaint that the President is not very accessible. If he is accessible, we would have told him this in a closed door, not on TV. But I can tell you that I made an effort for myself. I made several efforts. I wrote several times so that we can discuss some of these things. I didn’t have the chance….Viêw_More
