Following the planned EndBadgovernace protest, Peter Obi Media Reach ,POMR, has berated Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, for accusing the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate , Mr. Peter Obi, of being behind the planned action.

The group subsequently raised the alarm over an alleged plot to arrest Obi, accusing the presidency of blackmail.

Afam Osigwe Wins NBA Election

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has elected Afam Osigwe as its new National President.

Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), emerged victorious in the 2024 NBA National Officers Election, polling 20,435 votes.

He defeated his closest rival, Tobenna Erojikwe, who secured 10,998 votes, and Chukwuma Ikwuazom (SAN), who came third with 9,018 votes.

Osigwe, a former NBA General Secretary, will succeed the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN).

Nigeria, US Reaffirm Commitment To Strengthen Trade Ties

Nigeria and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties. This came after a high-level meeting between Nigeria’s minister of industry, trade, and investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, and a US delegation led by the assistant secretary of commerce for global markets, Mr Arun Venkataraman, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral trade relations and included discussions on the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA), the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), the Bi-National Commission (BNC), and the Commercial Investment Dialogue (CID).

Both sides emphasised the importance of diversifying Nigeria’s exports, promoting innovation, and creating a conducive environment for businesses.

Lagos billionaire-kidnappers: Popular Nollywood actor owns operational vehicles

Barely a few hours after the police mowed down nine billionaire kidnappers said to have been terrorizing Lagos and its environs for a long, revelations emerged that a popular Nollywood actor and producer based in Port Harcourt, simply identified as Ode, was amongst those killed during the encounter with police.

While scepticism over the report continues to linger, it has been authoritatively confirmed that the actor and producer was one of the billionaire kidnappers killed by detectives from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad in the Ladipo area of Lagos.

Sunday Vanguard learned that since the news broke, detectives have been making frantic efforts and carrying out both discreet electronic and intelligence investigations to identify the nine kidnappers they confronted at the popular Ladipo auto spare parts market where they came to kidnap a wealthy businessman.

It was learned that they continued further investigations after recovering four mobile phones from the pockets of the dead kidnappers and other vital and personal items. Police sources said the first shocking discovery made by detectives was that the two vehicles used by the kidnappers – a Lexus 350 Jeep and 4 Runner Jeep – belonged to the actor. The two vehicles that were discovered to be their operational vehicles were duly registered in his name…..Viêw _More
