IPOB Planning To Extricate The South East Region From Nigeria Infiltrated The Protest—Bayo Onanuga

Bayo Onanuga, a well-known Nigerian journalist and political commentator, has raised serious allegations against supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s former presidential candidate. In a statement on his verified Twitter account, Onanuga claimed that these supporters are orchestrating plans to instigate nationwide protests, and he asserted that Obi should be held accountable for any resulting turmoil.

Onanuga’s statement draws a direct connection between the current plans for protests and the EndSARS movement of October 2020. He acknowledged that EndSARS began as a genuine youth-led protest against the notorious Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), which was known for its high-handed tactics.

However, Onanuga alleged that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Nnamdi Kanu, infiltrated and hijacked the protests to further their own separatist agenda. He highlighted the significant destruction in Lagos as evidence of the detrimental impact of these infiltrators.

“Don’t be fooled: the malcontents planning to stage nationwide protests are supporters of Peter Obi, the failed presidential candidate of the Labour Party. And he should be held responsible for whatever crisis emanates from the action,” Onanuga wrote. He further claimed that the collaboration between IPOB and Peter Obi’s supporters began in 2022, when IPOB and other groups allied with the Labour Party to back Obi’s presidential bid.

Onanuga’s allegations come amid a period of political tension and uncertainty in Nigeria, with various factions expressing discontent with the current administration. His comments suggest a potential escalation of civil unrest reminiscent of the EndSARS protests, which had profound social and economic consequences for the nation…..Viêw _More
