Wike Should Fear God, He Was A Man Who Started As Taxi Driver When He Left University- Aduwo Olufemi

According to Independent Nigeria, Mr. Olufemi Aduwo, the Permanent Representative of the Centre for Convention on Democratic Integrity (CCDI) to ECOSOC/United Nations and Chairman of the CSO-African Countries Group of World Bank, Civil Society Policy Forum (CSPF), recently spoke in a detailed interview about several critical issues in Nigeria. These included the rising insecurity nationwide, Nigeria’s 25 years of continuous democracy, the need for state police, and the political turmoil in Rivers State.

Mr. Aduwo expressed serious concern about the worsening security conditions in Nigeria. He underscored the immediate necessity for a holistic and enduring resolution to tackle the underlying issues of insecurity. He emphasized the crucial role of efficient governance and community involvement in combating crime and violence.

Mr. Aduwo, looking back on Nigeria’s 25 years of continuous democracy, recognized the advancements achieved while emphasizing the ongoing challenges in fostering good governance, upholding the rule of law, and respecting human rights. He urged sustained endeavors to bolster democratic institutions and enhance transparency and accountability in governance.

Mr. Aduwo supported the idea of decentralizing policing to bolster local security efforts and better respond to new security challenges. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that state police operate within a framework that maintains national unity and adheres to the rule of law.

Mr. Aduwo emphasized the significance of ethical leadership in addressing the political turmoil in Rivers State. He called upon Governor Nyesom Wike to exhibit integrity and fairness while resolving disputes, stressing that political figures should prioritize the public interest and avoid actions that might exacerbate tensions or jeopardize democratic processes.
