What A Show Of Shame To See Them Sit Before Pressmen Waving Pieces Of Paper As Evidence-Nehikhare

According to the report from the Vanguard, The Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its alleged insensitivity to the plight of the people caused by the mismanagement of the economy by its central government over the past nine years. Nehikhare accused the APC of focusing on spreading lies and propaganda to mislead the people of Edo State.

Speaking at a press conference in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, Nehikhare stated that despite the significant damage caused by the APC government, the party and its members in the state have continued to propagate falsehoods to dampen the people’s desire to break free from the APC’s control.

He remarked, “It has become imperative for us as representatives of our people in the State Government to draw the attention of the authorities and the members of the public to the plight of the Edo people and by extension the Nigerian people.”

Nehikhare noted the efforts of the Edo State Government to alleviate the suffering of its residents, citing initiatives such as the increase in minimum wage, provision of free WiFi in different parts of the state, a free transport scheme benefiting over six million Edo residents since its launch in September 2023, food palliatives, and free registration for pensioners into the State’s health insurance scheme.

Despite these efforts, he acknowledged that the people are still enduring significant hardship due to the economic mismanagement by the APC at the central level.

He said, “It is on record how the haphazard withdrawal of subsidy by the APC Government on May 29, 2023, tossed the economy into chaos and pushed our people to the brink of starvation.”

He further criticized the APC’s policy to unify the exchange rate, which he claimed devalued the currency, exacerbated inflation, and negatively impacted the economic landscape. Additionally, he pointed out that increased taxes and burdens on small businesses have stifled business growth, and the nation is experiencing a resurgence of terrorism, including suicide bombings.

Nehikhare expressed his disappointment with the APC in Edo State for being “oblivious” to these issues. He accused them of acting like an ostrich, burying their heads in the sand while continuing to spread lies and propaganda to mislead the public.

He concluded, “It is such a show of shame to see them sit before pressmen waving worthless pieces of paper as evidence for non-existent fraud allegations against a State Government that has enthroned transparency and accountability in the administration of the State’s resources….Discover _More
