Force PRO Reacts After Someone Accused Policemen Of Being Involved In Armed Robbery And Kidnapping

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi has responded to an accusation made by someone who alleged that some policemen have been involved in armed robbery and kidnapping.

While making his allegations on X, the individual expressed concerns about the police’s reliance on public videos to identify and apprehend their offending officers. He questioned the police’s internal strategies for monitoring personnel and preventing criminal activities.

He highlighted the poor supervision of the Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS) which was disbanded after waves of EndSARS protests erupted in Nigeria.

“Some policemen have been involved in armed robbery and kidnapping. The police can’t always depend on videos from the public to catch their offending officers. What is the police’s in-house plan to monitor its personnel and prevent their criminal activities? SARS was poorly supervised,” he wrote.

In his response, Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized the existence of a robust internal control mechanism and oversight functions within the police force. He acknowledged that the police have been actively exposing and sanctioning errant officers.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi pointed out that the large number of personnel in the police workforce could give the impression that little is being done, but he assured the public that continuous efforts are being made to address misconduct.

“We have a very strong internal control mechanism and oversight functions in the police. We have been exposing and sanctioning our erring personnel. It’s because of the large number of the police workforce that makes it look as if nothing is being done. We try, and we will continue to do. We don’t support indiscipline, bad conduct, and unprofessionalism. Please be guided,” he wrote….Discover _More
