Wike Cannot Stand On A Stage And Insult The Electorate With Disrespectful Language- Chief Peter Ameh

Chief Peter Ameh, the former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and Publicity Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has strongly criticized the Labour Party leadership for their lack of response to recent comments made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), about Senator Ireti Kingibe.

According to the Daily Post, Ameh expressed his disappointment with Labour Party leaders and senators for not opposing Wike’s statements. During a recent project inauguration in the FCT, Wike had declared that Senator Kingibe would not be returning to the National Assembly in 2027.

Ameh condemned Wike’s remarks, calling them an insult to the electorate. He emphasized that such behavior is inappropriate in a democratic society and urged Labour Party leaders to unite and publicly denounce Wike’s conduct.

Ameh stated that he holds the other Labour Party senators and leaders responsible for not collectively opposing Wike. He called for them to hold a press conference to assert that Wike cannot misuse public resources and insult the electorate with disrespectful language. Ameh stressed that this behavior is unacceptable in a democracy.

He highlighted the importance of respecting democratic principles and governance standards, urging Wike’s supporters to reconsider their stance. Ameh pointed out that in countries like South Africa and Egypt, ministers do not exhibit such conduct, suggesting that Nigerian leaders should follow these examples.

As per The Daily Post, He remarked, “I blame other senators and leaders from the Labour Party for not coming together and speaking in one voice against Wike,” Ameh said. “They need to hold a press conference and tell him that he cannot control the country and misuse public resources. He cannot stand on a stage and insult the electorate with disrespectful language. This is not acceptable in a democracy…
