Kwankwaso: No President Can Just Wake Up And Declare A State Of Emergency In Any State- Bayo Onanuga

On 18th June, 2024 Bayo Onanuga, the Senior Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu while reacting to the recent statement of the National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso that there were people from the State who was the one advising the Federal Government on how to take over Kano through the State of Emergency, revealed that the Federal Government could not declare any State of Emergency in any state without the involvement of the National Assembly, and no President could just wake up and declare the State of Emergency in any State.

According to Punch Newspaper, Bayo Onanuga, the Senior Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President of Nigeria, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu said “There is no truth in it. It is a mere rumor.

The Federal Government cannot declare any state of emergency in any state without the involvement of the National Assembly. There is no such plan. The National Assembly is in recess. No President can just wake up and declare a state of emergency in any state.”

On the other hand, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Felix Morka said that it was disturbing that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would casually accuse the Federal Government of attempting to create a new breed of Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents in Kano State….Discover More
