If Nigerians Are Not Happy With Our APC They Should Take Decision -Fayemi Criticizes Subsidy Removal

In a recent statement, Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti state, has criticized the timing of the petrol subsidy removal announcement, as reported by The Cable.

He described it as “a little bit precipitous.”

On May 29, 2023, President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of the petrol subsidy during his inauguration speech.

This announcement led to huge hike in the pump price of petrol and other goods.

In an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Fayemi stated that the announcement did not allow the federal government enough time to prepare for the effects of the policy.

He said the Tinubu administration inherited a “challenging” economic situation and noted that the policies introduced were suitable.

Fayemi acknowledged that there were some mistakes in the execution, but he defended the policy changes themselves.

The former minister also mentioned that the federal government is aware of the challenges and is working to improve the situation.

He admitted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot deny its role in the difficult economic conditions facing Nigerians.

“The Nigerian people, in a democracy, have the last word. If they are not happy with our political party, they have to take the decision on that front,” Fayemi said….Discover More
